  3. How to set up this stuff:
  4.  
  5. How it works the program VIEW.EXE does the work it looks in the root
  6. directory of the CD for the file DIRS.TXT. It reads this to tell it
  7. where it should look for files.
  8. Each line in DIRS.TXT gives the path and the content.
  9. When you run VIEW this is the first thing it displays.
  10. When you move the lightbar to one of the directories and hit return
  11. it looks in the named directory for a fill called 00_INDEX.TXT.
  12. This latter file contains a list of the files in that area.
  13. Both of these files can be edited to put in header messages if you
  14. want to. Any lines begining with a space are not treated as a file
  15. or directory but will just display.

  18. VITAL: The files VIEW.EXE, CDROM.CFG and DIRS.TXT MUST be in the
  19. CD root directory.
  20.  
  21. The file CDROM.CFG contains the message and setup information used by
  22. VIEW.EXE you can edit this to change the messages. It also references
  23. the directory called UTILS which contains unpackers viewers etc,
  24. so the UTILS directory must be in the right place or you won't be
  25. able to unpack ZIPs or view PCX files.

  27. WINDOWS PROBLEM: Although VIEW will work fine under Windows, it's
  28. PCX viewer may not as it can run ito conflicts with existing screen
  29. drivers. You might add a note to users to run VIEW under RAW DOS
  30. if they have this problem.

  37. PS I have changed the setup slightly from the April disk. I have now
  38. put all the directories under PDSL but VIEW.EXE, DIRS.TXT and CDROM.CFG
  39. still need to go in the root directory. It goes like this:

  63. GO ON EVERY MONTH.

  65. The other directories, ie Games, Graphics, Music, Sport, TVfilm and Weird
  66. are put on just one per month.

  70. 1)to edit DIRS.TXT to remove the directories you are not using
  71. for the month.

  73. 2)to edit CDROM.CFG to change the month.
